Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Chore Report operates chorereport.com and app.chorereport.com, and the Chore Report iOS and Android mobile apps. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information when you use our services.

2. Information We Collect

  • Account information: email address and display name.
  • Household data: household name, chore templates, chore assignments, completion records, and payout history.
  • Profile data: optional avatar photos.
  • Chore submission photos:photos children capture using their device camera, or upload from their photo library, to prove chore completion. Photos are stored securely in your household's private storage and are accessible only to members of that household.
  • Subscription data: when a parent purchases ChoreReport Plus, our subscription provider (RevenueCat) processes the purchase receipt and entitlement state on our behalf. We do not store payment card details — those are handled by Apple, Google, or the applicable payment processor.
  • Usage data: browser type, device type, and pages visited, used to diagnose issues and improve the product.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide and maintain the service.
  • Send transactional emails (invitations, password resets, receipts).
  • Improve the product.
  • Respond to support requests.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

On free-tier parent accounts, we display advertisements served by Google AdSense to support the free version of the service. Google may use cookies and device identifiers to personalize these ads in accordance with its own policies. We never show advertisements to child accounts, and we do not use children's data for advertising of any kind. Parents can remove advertisements by subscribing to ChoreReport Plus.

4. Children's Privacy

Chore Report is designed for use by families. Child accounts can be created only through a parent-initiated invitation — children cannot sign up on their own.

Data we collect from children: name or nickname, chore completion records, and photos they upload to prove chore completion. We do not collect location data, contact information, or any identifiers from children beyond what is needed to operate the service within their household.

We do not show advertising to child accounts and we do not use children's data for any purpose other than operating the service within the child's household.

Parental rights:parents can review, correct, or delete a child's data at any time from within the parent dashboard, or by emailing hello@chorereport.com. Removing a child from a household deletes their account data.

We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) in the United States, and analogous protections for children in other jurisdictions.

5. Data Storage and Security

Chore Report uses Supabase for authentication, database, and file storage infrastructure. Access is protected by row-level security policies that limit data access strictly to members of the relevant household.

6. Third-Party Services

We share the minimum data needed with the following providers:

  • Supabase — authentication, database, file storage.
  • Resend — transactional email delivery.
  • Vercel — web application hosting.
  • RevenueCat — subscription management (processes purchase receipts and entitlement state for ChoreReport Plus).
  • Google AdSense — advertising on free-tier parent accounts only. Never shown to child accounts.
  • Apple App Store and Google Play — payment processing and receipt validation for mobile subscriptions.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your data while your account is active. When you request deletion, we remove your account and associated data within 30 days, subject to any legal obligations we have to retain certain records.

To request deletion of your account and all associated data, email hello@chorereport.com from the email address associated with your account. Parents may delete child accounts from within the parent dashboard at any time.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. To exercise these rights, email hello@chorereport.com.

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect and the right to request its deletion. We do not sell personal information as defined by the CCPA.

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have rights under the GDPR, including the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will announce material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy and, where appropriate, by notifying users through the app or by email.
